RE: Dallan Construction in Top Five of Richmond's Rising 25

"It's amazing that we got on the list a second time, said Danny Meyer, the company's co-founder and president. "Being in the top five is a big deal." When he accepted the award at last year's Rising 25 banquet, Meyer said: "The American dream doesn't have to stay a dream. It can become a reality."

"Dallan's major clients include Ukrop's Super Markets Inc., Liberty Property Trust and Gibson Property Trust. Since last year, Dallan has completed several projects, including a 20,000-square-foot office for Virginia Physicians for Women, a local medical practice. The firm also has almost completed work on The Healing Place, a center in downtown Richmond that provides shelter and substance-abuse rehabilitation for homeless men."

"A local construction company won the top award at last night's Rising 25 banquet, which honored the fastest-growing companies in the Richmond area. Dallan Construction Inc., a general contracting firm founded in 1997 by Danny Meyer and Rich Robertson, was named the region's fastest-growing privately held company."

"About 65 percent of Dallan's work involves renovations and improvements, but the company's ground-up construction includes projects such as Parham Place II, a 28,000-square-foot office building on Parham Road."

"We have a simple philosophy," Meyer said in a recent interview. "Make sure the client's expectations are met financially, recognize that any project is successful through a team of people, and treat those people with respect."

"Dallan Construction Inc. has been growing so rapidly that the company's co-founders have had to try hard to control it."

"We don't want to be so big that we can't provide services to our clients the way we want to," said President Danny Meyer, who started the general contracting company in 1997 along with co-owner and Vice President Rich Robertson.

"The company's revenue grew about 1,700 percent from 1998 to 2002."

"They are trustworthy and honest, which is the most important thing I look for in a contractor," said Katie Chernau, director of construction and facilities for the grocery chain. "They are proactive in that they guide the project rather than letting it guide them. They look to the future and they ask the right questions." <Ukrop's Super Markets Inc.>
